2016 Review and 2017 Plans

Hello there, Blog!

I hope everyone had a good end to 2016.  If you didn't, then good news: it is now 2017!  Like a lot of people this time of year, I've been reflecting on the past year and figuring out what I want to do better in 2017.  That's right, I'm talking New Year Resolutions!

But first, here's a quick recap of what projects I finished in 2016:

(As always, projects can be found on my Ravlery page)

9 pairs of socks
1 sweater (baby)
6 scarves/cowls
2 shawls
5 hats
3 pairs of mittens
an assortment of smaller items (coffee cozies, washcloths, etc)

A pretty good year for knitting, if I do say so.  Most of these items ended up being gifts, which is a trend I'd like to continue in 2017.

Speaking of 2017...

Here is the list of resolutions/things I want to do:

  • Blog consistently - I was really good at keeping up with this blog for the first half of the year and then life got in the way a bit.  I'd like to pick it back up for 2017 and do a weekly posting.  I think I can handle 1 post a week, but we'll see how things go
  • Finish long term projects - I've been working on a blanket for 1.5 years, a cardigan since February 2016, and a pile of charity blankets for a local animal shelter for 2 years.  I'd like to be able to mark these projects as 'finished' on Ravelry
  • Complete the Master Knitter Program - The Knitting Guild of America has recently given the program a deadline of 1 year to complete.  My deadline is November 1st of this year and I want to finally complete it
  • Destash - as much as possible.  I've been working hard on picking projects that match the yarn I already have in my stash.  I have a feeling I'll be making a lot more cowls this year since they let me knit until I'm out of yarn.
  • Spin all the fiber - I've accumulated a pretty hefty fiber stash and I'd like to get back to spinning.
That's all I have for now, most of these are pretty substantial projects so they should be enough to keep me busy for the next 12 months.

Happy New Year!
