I've been knitting a lot of socks lately. At least, a lot of socks for someone who, until this year, never really knit any socks. I've knit 7 pairs and have another on the needles and, to be honest, I'm getting a little burnt out on socks. I still want to make it to the 12 pairs by December so I decided to mix in a few palate cleansers in.
Palate cleansers, for me, are little knitting projects that won't distract me (for very long) from my main knitting projects. I find little projects that I can finish quickly give me that little bit of accomplishment that you get after casting off a finished object and, for me, that leads to a burst of knitting energy because I want to feel that good feeling again.
My go-to little project are these little sweater ornaments that I've been making out of my left over sock yarn.
Finishing these WIPs encouraged me to keep going and I'm trying to finish one last WIP before getting back to sock knitting.
Here's my Carradal Shawl that I've been working on since April. Or, more accurately, it has been sitting in my WIP pile since April I finished the main body pretty quickly. Afterall, it was just stockinette with some stripes and increases.
I'm hoping to finish this shawl by the weekend and then I'll get back to my socks!

I have a lot of sock yarn left over from all of these socks
So I've been slowly turning it into these little sweater ornaments!
And then, when I don't have enough for a sweater, I add the rest to my Sock Scrap blanket
I also dug through my WIP basket and finished two projects this past Saturday.
First, a Brigid Hat in Cascade 220 Superwash
And then I finally finished my North Star Mittens by Robin Hansen! These have been a WIP since July 2015. I just needed to finish a thumb, but they've been waiting for that thumb for about 3 months

After reading through the instructions for the cable edging, I was a bit intimidated. However, once I actually got started, it isn't anything too complicated and I can do most of the cable twists without a cable needle (always a plus in my book)
