I was sick with a cold last weekend and I don’t
know about you, but when I have a cold, my brain gets super foggy. Even
when I’m fully medicated, everything else seems to clear up – sinuses,
headache, etc – except my brain. So I guess
it is a good thing that I have two large projects on the needles that
are basically all stockinette knitting for miles. These are the same
projects I talked about a few posts ago (Abalone Cardigan and Celtic Myths Shawl). The cardigan did have some
increases for the back, but I’m now knitting in stockinette from my
hips up to the arm holes, so I have quite a few inches to go.
Here, I pinned out what I have so
far on my blocking boards just to get a feel for really how much
knitting I have left to do.
On Friday, I was at the orange marker, the rest was
knit between Saturday and Sunday. Now, that might not seem like a lot
of knitting to some people. But I wasn’t knitting at full speed and I
would catch myself just holding the needles
while watching TV. I would stop in the middle of the row and just sit
and watch. Also, there was a good bit of napping involved as well.
The Celtic Myths shawl, however, isn’t quite plain stockinette, it does
have a little bit of an edge. But with over
250 stitches on my needles at this point, I’m not even half way done so
besides the first and last 5 stitches on the right side rows, the rest
is just plain knitting.
Again, I’ve pinned out the shawl
so far and it really doesn’t seem like a lot of progress at all. But
with fingering weight yarn and so many stitches per row, I’m feeling
pretty good about myself to have gotten that
much done.
I'll have some more time for mindless Stockinette knitting this upcoming week when I'll be on vacation. I'm planning on bringing these two projects so I can just whip out a few rows here and there and it isn't the end of the world if I have to stop in the middle of the row.
