I've been working on Christmas gifts since early May. I'm making numerous shawls, a few lapghans (lap sized afghans), and maybe some felted or thrummed mittens. I'm not going into specifics because the recipients might run into this blog at some point. In any case, Christmas is less than months away and below is a list of all the knitting I've finished and still need to do this year and the deadline.
Red shawl (10/9/15) - Done!
Red hat (10/9/15) - Done!
Blue shawl (10/9/15)- Done!
Blue hat (10/9/15) - Done!
Grey shawl (10/9/15) - Done!
Grey cowl (10/9/15) - Done!
TBD shawl (12/1/15)
TBD hat (12/1/15)
Grey blanket (12/1/15)
Stripped blanket (10/9/15)
TBD mittnes (10/9/15)
TBD hat (10/9/15)
Master knitter program (9/30/15)
For some the Christmas gifts, I have a soft deadline of 10/9 because I'll be visiting the recipients so I'd like to be able to have everything done so I can drop the gifts off and save on postage. The other gifts have a soft 'due date' of 12/1 just so that I have enough time to get them in the mail to where they need to go. I also started the Master Knitter program last year in early October and they said you should be done within a year or else you may need to pay for any updates to the program like if they change a swatch you need to do or a question you need to answer.
The hats that are matching the shawls are sort of optional as well. I somehow managed to miscalculate the amount of yarn I needed for the pattern and ended up with a whole skein of Cascade 220 left over once the shawl was finished. So I decided to make matching hats. Anyway, those are the things I'd like to have finished in the next 6 months.
I try to not have too many projects going at once because if I'm doing a few rows a night but each night is a different project, it takes forever for anything to get finished. The rule I've given myself is one knitting project, one Tunisian crochet project, and one regular crochet project.
There will be posts in more detail in the future, but this is the general layout of my knitting/crocheting for a while. Looking at it like this makes it seem a bit more manageable. I've completed 6 items in the past 2.5 months and I've got a good bit completed on both the grey and striped blankets. There are some receipients who also have birthdays between now and Christmas that I am considering knitting things for as well. Those aren't on this list, but we'll see how things end up. I think I'm going to need to make a trip down to the local yarn store sometime soon - as soon as I figure out which patterns those TBD items will be.
